Welcome to Abbott Electronics.

External Input Filters

Input filters are available for DC input power supply Series B or S to attentuate the AC ripple by a factor of 10. When the appropriate filter is used with an Martek Power Abbott power module, electromagnetic interference characteristics of the power module are also substantially reduced. Conducted interference, conducted susceptibility, as well as spike susceptibility levels are also reduced. Insertion loss from the Martek Power Abbott filter has been held to a minimum consistent with good attentuation. These hermetically sealed filters have been designed to meet the rugged environments of MIL-STD-810C and MIL-E-5400P frequently encountered in aerospace and industrial systems.

1. Attentuation ratio as used here is a ratio or fraction whose numerator is the AC voltage measured, RMS, across the input terminals of the power module and whose denominator is the AC voltage measured.  RMS, across a one-half OHM resistor connected in series with the plus terminal of the DC voltage source, such as a battery.  (The one-half OHM resistor synthetically represents the source impedance)
2. Insertion loss, as used here, is defined as the DC voltage across the input terminals of the filter minus the DC voltage across the output terminals of the filter.  This may be as high as 0.9 volts for models B10 and B17.
