h) Radiated Susceptibility, RS02, Magnetic Induction Fields Passed
i) Radiated Susceptibility, E-Field, RS03, 10 kHz to 10 GHz Failed**
* After the CE01 and CE03 tests, the load box was bonded to the ground plane with conductive tape.
** 5 Vdc output ripple waveform did not change but the output DC voltage dropped below 4.9 Vdc.
1.3 PURPOSE OF EMI and EMS TESTS
The purpose of the EMI and EMS tests were to measure levels of conducted and radiated interference emitted from the EUT and to determine the immunity of the EUT to external electromagnetic signals and fields. The test results were compared with the specified limits.
The EMI and EMS measurements on this EUT were relatively complex. These tests were performed under the direct guidance of EMACO's Principal Engineers:  Mr. David Bernardin, Mr. Al Mills and Mr. Herb Mertel.
1.4 DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT UNDER TEST
The EUT was a DC to DC power supply with the following specifications:
In: 28Vdc
Out: 5Vdc/10.0 A
Output Ripple: 100 mVp-p at 25 MHz
The power supply had only one connector, a 9-pin D-subminiature.  Pin 6 was the +28 Vdc lead and Pin 1 was the 28 Vdc return.  For testing, pins 4 and 5 were soldered together to one wire to form the +5 Vdc output.  Similarly, pins 8 and 9 were connected to one wire for the 5 Vdc return.
The electrical output load was resistor bank mounted in a metallic box.  The EUT and load box were electrically bonded to the ground plane for all tests except the conducted emissions tests where the load box was isolated from ground but not the EUT.  The output leads between the EUT and load box were 4 inches.
1.5 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The environment for the EMI tests was as follows:
a) Temperature: 25° ± 5° C
b) Relative Humidity: Laboratory Ambient
c) Altitude: Laboratory Ambient
1.6 POWER REQUIREMENTS
The EUT was designed to operate with 28 volts DC, 78 W power.  The power used during testing was 28 Vdc, and 2.8 A.
1.7 INTERCONNECTIONS
The interconnections during the EMI tests were as shown in Figure 1 which also shows the general test setup used during all tests.
1.8 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
The following documents were applicable to the preparation and performance of the EMI tests discussed:
